We’re about two months away until Irrational Games sequel – BioShock Infinity — launches, but that hasn’t stopped the website Xbox360achievements to get their hands on the sequel’s Achievements, and presumably the PlayStation Trophies.
While there is not much to write about here, after the break, check out some of the goals you’ll be trying to achieve, that have been set forth by the studio. (more…)
The big technological leap that Rockstar was touting for L.A. Noire was the state-of-the-art facial technology the game provided. The complex feature was to give players a glimpse of how each character was reacting to detectives questions they were providing to non-playable characters. The idea of implementing that element was for a better understanding of if character was lying to you. It was a pretty remarkable to see in person, and it definitely added a different type of value to the game. And it’s something that we hope we see in future Rockstar titles.
If you don’t know, the entire game was motion capture, and because actors were present to represent the characters, there’s a blooper reel. And above is that very clip of the actors screwing up their lines. These bloopers are entertaining, but it’s nothing that you haven’t seen before on a DVD special feature. What is incredible is how the motion capture and the facial technology picked up everything, from actors sticking out their tongue because of dialogue twisting, to their entire face shuttering because of a sneeze, you see everything. According to Edge, Sony will reveal the PlayStation 4 on February 20, and will announce a launch dates along with details of their controller, which were leaked to the site by a mole inside the hardware company.
According to the source, Sony is planning on releasing their next installment of the PlayStation sometime before Christmas in the US and Japan. Europeans however, won’t see this system in stores until early 2014. Apparently there’s some “complexities” involved for distribution in Europe, but those details were not leaked. (more…)
I doubt anybody on the planet thinks Grand Theft Auto V is not going to be a major blockbuster in entertainment when it’s released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia agrees with that notion too.
According to his rough calculation, Grand Theft Auto V will move approximately 18 million copies during the first six months of its launch. Bhatia crunch the numbers in his “hypothetical profitability model,” and concluded that if Take-Two, the game’s publisher, did sell those units they could income about $230 million in operating profit. According to him, Take-Two spent about $137.5 million in developmental cost, which had about a 250 person team working on the project for five years. And in his calculations he expects that Take-Two will spend anywhere from $69 million to $109.3 million in advertising. (more…)
Sony has just released that God of War: Ascension trailer that was being teased a few days ago. If you watch the entire two-minute trailer, you’ll see the softer side of the games protagonists Kratos. It looks like the game’s goal is to give insight on the emotion of Kratos, something that has been missed in the entire series. You’ll notice that Kratos is still haunted by the death of his child and wife, while the song “Hanging On” by Ellie Goulding plays. Their deaths looks like to have been from murder. So the spark for Kratos’ motive for for being so violent could just stem from vengeance.
The trailer, up top, will air this Sunday during the Super Bowl. However, the version that you’ll be watching during the commercials will only be about a one minute cut. Well it hasn’t been confirmed why Sony decided to edit the commercial in half, it’s a safe bet it probably has to do with money. According to Ad Age’s Brian Steinberg, the average ad which is about 30 seconds will roughly costs between 3.7 and $3.8 million. So while next installment of God of War is a huge title for the company, it’s probably not worth spending close to $8 million to show it off during the most-watched sporting event in the country.
Earlier today, Sony teased an announcement about their PlayStation division in a video that will take place on February 20th. Once you finish watching the video up top, the first thing that comes to mind is that the company plans on unveiling the successor to the PlayStation 3. Obviously there is no definite proof from just watching the clip that this will be the announcement, but you have to ask yourself, what else could Sony be teasing at this point?
However, the Wall Street Journal is reporting, and they’re putting some of their credibility on the line, that Sony is indeed on the verge of announcing the PlayStation 4, on February 20, during a press conference. (more…)
Technically speaking, the 2012 NFL season has yet to be determined, and EA has already announced Madden 14‘s release date, which is on August 27th, 2013. The news comes from the official website which already has a logo and is celebrating 25 years of Madden video-game football.
This is the only information that is available because underneath the logo, it just says “Madden 25 coming soon.” Which I guess means that more details are forthcoming. IGN is suggesting that because it reads “Madden 25 coming soon,” EA is planning on releasing Madden bi-yearly cycle, instead of the typical year-to-year pattern. (more…)
It’s official, we have a solid date. Rockstar Games has finally revealed when Grand Theft Auto V will hit store shelves. And while that’s great news overall, there is a hint of disappointment in the air – you can smell it.
The highly anticipated sequel will be shipped to retailers on September 17, 2013. This is about four months later then what Rockstar was hinting at just a short while ago. And inside the release date statement, Rockstar went out of their way to apologize to their legion of fans expecting to play the highly anticipated sandbox title in the next couple of months. (more…)
Sony has just announced a new PlayStation 3 bundle, which includes every single God of War game ever made. Officially called the God of War Ascension Legacy bundle, named after the anticipated GoW that comes out next month, will feature a 500 GB garnet red Ultra Slim PlayStation 3 system. Not only will it come with the exclusive color and all five previous games, but if players pick up the package they will also receive a 30-day PlayStation Plus trial membership.
If you’re looking to get your grubby hands on the package, the bundle will be available starting on March 12 — the day God of War Ascension hits stores. And will set you back $350.
The reason for the hardware to be an off red was because Sony was inspired by Kratos‘ tattoo, which I kinda dig. Although, considering all my electronics are now black, I’m not entirely sure how a random red system would look, when compared to everything else.
