Grand Theft Auto V Delayed a Tad, Dated for 9/17
It’s official, we have a solid date. Rockstar Games has finally revealed when Grand Theft Auto V will hit store shelves. And while that’s great news overall, there is a hint of disappointment in the air – you can smell it.
The highly anticipated sequel will be shipped to retailers on September 17, 2013. This is about four months later then what Rockstar was hinting at just a short while ago. And inside the release date statement, Rockstar went out of their way to apologize to their legion of fans expecting to play the highly anticipated sandbox title in the next couple of months.
“We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time,” it reads. “GTA V is a massively ambitious and complex game and is simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we, and, more importantly, you require.”
“To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and are promised that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”
It will be hard to find gamers out there that are truly angry at the company. Surly they’ll be disappointed, but most fans understand that this is an enormous project. And Rockstar has so much credibility in the gaming community, that players will give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that delaying the title means a more perfect experience.
But damn, September seems so far away…
On a side note Rockstar did not mention anything about a release of a PC version, nor have they ever hinted for the possibility of a Wii U port.
