Report: 1992′s Flashback Getting HD Remake
Flashback, a 1992 action-platformer, looks to be getting an HD remake, according to a French blog called Gamealive. The site was told by someone inside Ubisoft, who is publishing the title, that the official name of the remake will be called Flashback Origins.
Origins is currently being developed by the studio VectorCell, which is helmed by the original’s creator Paul Cuisset. The only title the studio developed was last year’s downloadable only game Amy. If you haven’t heard of it, that’s understandable because the game was ranked as one of the worst games of 2012 and currently it holds a 33/100 on Metacritic. So that fact is kinda worrisome.
Thankfully Ubisoft is giving the studio another shot at developing an additional game, and helps Paul Cuisset get back to his roots and prove his studio has the ability to program a strong title.
As of now, that’s all the information we have about Flashback Origins. There’s nothing about a release date, nor if it’s planned to be a downloadable or shipped into stores. Although, judging that it is a remake of a classic, and examining the one screen we have above, it’s a safe bet it will be uploaded to Xbox Live and PSN.
