The Circle Pad Pro Priced and Dated

One of the biggest criticisms of the 3DS (besides the battery life) is the lack of a second analog stick. Nintendo has realized that maybe the design of the hardware is flawed and trying to fix some of the complaints.

Not to long ago, they announced an attachment for the handheld that would allow games to control with dual-analogs. The downfall of the accessory is it would require one AAA battery, but thankfully that would give it about 480 hours of playtime.

The Circle Pad Pro‘ has just been released in Japan, and gamers have the option of picking up the unit with Resident Evil included, but sadly Americans won’t get the same package.

Nintendo has announced the extra analog stick will be hitting stores shelves on February 7, 2012. It will be cheap, selling for only $20, and is exclusively at Gamestop and their online site.

That’s a troubling sign because limiting any kind of game or accessory to just one company tells me Nintendo doesn’t fully believe in the product. Neither they, or other companies will waste money developing a separate control scheme just to entertain the few gamers who went into Gamestop and purchased a unit they don’t really need.

As appealing as having two analogs sticks on your 3DS is, I say skip it. Unless of course you absolutely need it for Metal Gear or Resident Evil.
