Cliff Bleszinski to Debut New Game on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
When Jimmy Fallon took over Late Night from Conan O’Brien last year, he promised when a huge game was announced or about to debut, his show would cover it. True to his word, the Late Night host tweeted today that Epic Games’ own Cliff Bleszinski, creator of the Gears of War series, will be appearing on the show to reveal his next project.
“Game designer Cliff Bleszinski (@therealcliffyb) debuts his new game on Late Night next Thur. Set your TiVos! And your Xboxes.”
So what does Bleszinski have up his sleeve? Could it be Gears of War 3, or some brand new I.P.? Nobody seems to have an answer; however, we do know Epic Games is working on a titled Bulletstorm. Only problem is: Cliff Bleszinski’s name isn’t attached to the development and in fact the team behind the mysterious title is a small Polish studio called ‘People Can Fly.’
I’m betting it will probably be Gears of War 3. Considering Microsoft has repeatably referred to Gears of War as as a trilogy, it only makes sense for Bleszinski to come on a national talk-show and reveal the next installment of a already popular series. So if this is the case, my only question would be if the well-known shooter would take advantage of Project Natal.
“I find motion controls to be very interesting, very compelling,” he told IGN. “The ones I personally like the most are Natal-like, where I don’t have to have yet another plastic controller cluttering up my coffee table. Just fire it up, and do very, very cool movements with interesting results.”
I’m sure Microsoft understands in order to attract gamers to a rather questionable way to play games, they must have some sought-after title to go along with the launch. We already know Halo: Reach will NOT utilize Project Natal, so the company needs another highly-sought title, and Gears of War 3 just might be that game.
We’ll know officially next week.
