Possible Call of Duty 7 Details

cod1logo

We already know Treyarch is working on the seventh installment of the Call of Duty Series. For the last couple of years or so, Infinity Ward, who originally started working on the famous first-person shooter games, would one year release a Call of Duty, but the following year Treyarch would launch the next in the serious. It’s a way for Activision to keep milking the franchise fresh. It has been the pattern for awhile now — and for the time being, it’s gonna stay that way.

The last time Treyarch released a Call of Duty game was back in 2008, when World at War was launched. If you didn’t play it, you should be able to guess the story was told in the World War II era; however, rumors have suggested the studio plans on having the player fight a different war this time around.

A few months ago, we heard Treyarch is going to try and have the narrative be told during the Vietnam Conflict; however, nothing has been confirmed. Today, planetxbox360 is reporting that it is indeed going to be set in Vietnam, according to whom they call “reliable sources.” They also have written about some details about what we should expect when the game hits store shelves.

The spy told the website that Treyarch plans on focusing “heavily” on the story, and will try to capture the struggles of each soldier starring in the videogame. Of course, as the player fights though the game, the same engine which was developed by Infinity Ward will be included in the first-person shooter — obviously. Treyarch, apparently also wants to have the pacing of the Steven Spielberg’s World War II classic, Saving Private Ryan, but also “borrow” some of the action scenes from Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket.

So when should we see the title? Well according to the site, winter of 2010. While all the information above sounds legit, I’m pretty sure I could have guessed it all. To me, that only means one of two things. One, the site is making this stuff up, which I don’t think they are. Or two, Treyarch isn’t being as original as they should be. Hmmm…

  1. So.. I’m guessing that if Vietnam is the setting this time around, and if the game sells like balls (which it probably will), then Vietnam will be next World War II? I would have stuck with future tech ala Battlefield 2142.

  2. Video Game Executive: “You remember how dramatic and emotional world war two was right?”

Fan: “Most wars are dramatic and emotional if you look at it from the right perspective. You took a chance with modern warfare and it was fucking awesome, keep that up, do something new!”

Video Game Executive: “Remember how epic D-Day was?”

Fan: “Please, please, something besides world war 2, we have enough world war two games”

Video Game Executive: “But, but what about D-Day”

    you get the idea

  3. I’m dreading the release of this next CoD game if it’s going to be Vietnam. I don’t think, nor do I think anyone else does, that a Vietnam war game would be any good.

I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Infinity Ward take CoD into a futuristic setting. I think if they did some good planning, writing, and designing, as they’ve excelled at doing with Modern Warfare, it would be interesting to see them take us into the future.

It would certainly be a risk on their part, no doubt; however, I think if they didn’t take it into a distant future, and focused more to a closer future they could adapt modern guns and fighting techniques of today so they could stay in their comfort zone of warfare. They wouldn’t need to make it corny, and I don’t think they would add aliens or anything ridiculous. I think they could really create the next big futuristic fps if they really put their work and effort into it.

But this with Infinity Ward in mind, not Treyarch. I don’t want Treyarch doing anything with CoD in the first place.

This is just my opinion, but what do you guys think?

  4. @AlhaEditor.

I think ur an idiot. Thats just my opinion.

  5. man everyone hates on Treyarch. They bust their asses while Infinity Ward craps all over them like a spoiled sibling.

  6. I just hope that maybe they would add rag doll settings to multiplayer instead of like 5 or 6 different ways of being killed which i don’t like because i like games to be as realistic as possible to really show what the war was really like but in a fun way.
