GTA: Chinatown Wars Coming to the PSP

Rockstar Games has just announced that the Sony PSP will be receiving the highly-praised Nintendo DS game ‘Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.’ The publisher confirmed the once exclusive DS title will be a port of the original game, when it heads to Sony’s portable system.

Chinatown Wars will be available to PSP owners starting this fall. When it is released, not only will there be a UMD version shipped into stores, but it is going to be available as a digital download for PSP Go customers the same day.

The reason for Rockstar to port the sandbox game is probably attributed to the less-than-expected sales of the DS version. When Chinatown Wars was released on the DS, many people, including Rockstar, were thinking the title was going to make huge numbers because of the brand name and the lack of ‘mature’ games on the system. Although, when it was finally released in March for the portable system, which sold roughly 30 million units, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars only moved 89,000.

Rockstar is hoping they can bank on Chinatown Wars on the PSP because of the systems history of mature content being successful.

  1. UMB?

  2. I really, really hope that this game is in full 3D like GTA: Liberty and Vice City Stories. The main reason why I want it to be in full 3D is because it will be exactly like GTA: IV on account of GTA: Chinatown Wars is part of the GTA: IV Era. When I mean exactly I mean feature wise. For example: 1.the parking spaces instead of garages. 2. Wanted Level System. for example 3- stars= NOOSE 4-stars= FIB. 3. The grapichs.

So all in all it would be nice to have a little GTA: IV on my psp. I already have GTA: CTW for DS and it is boss.

  3. Thanks for sharing great artcles, I will keep coming back to check your site for this kinds of article. Thanks!
