Watch the Dead Space Trailer by the Director of the First Saw Movie

Movie director James Wan (Saw) has directed the new trailer for EA’s new sci-fi horror game Dead Space. The trailer, which aired for the first time on Spike TV, is set to be the official trailer for E3 08′.

As cool as it is that some people in Hollywood are finally giving games the respect they deserve (the respect is called money), I’m going to be completely honest with all of you. I couldn’t tell that a Hollywood director made this video if you didn’t tell me. It really wasn’t anything out of the realm of what I’ve seen before.

Oh well, it wasn’t like Martin Scorsese was directing it or anything.

  1. First and foremost, the game doesn’t look half bad.
Now… the use of James Wan is a sales tactic, end of story. I’m not saying that anyone could have put this trailer together any better (because I sure as hell know I would have made the game look like Deep Horizon meets Critters 3), but this director is stuck using footage, angles and settings that are out of his hands to change.
Either way, the game looks decent, and this trailer has done the job for me. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more details on this title and come Oct. 21st, who knows… I may even own this title!

  2. i saw a video for this on youtube which actually made me want to play it a lot more. this is a cool trailer, but it kind of cheeses the game up a lot. it looks like it could be generic horror flick #23.

for me, at least, i think this game is going to be pretty righteous due to the technical aspects alone. i mean, just the way they’ve been incorporating the sound design is a selling point for me. and if they pull it off, i’m pretty positive this will be the sleeper hit of the year, (well, for anyone who likes scary games at least.)
